Our Story.

Our story starts back in 1979, when aunt Patty bought an old trapper cabin beside Clear creek in Seward, Alaska. Over the intervening 40 years, Patty put her green thumb to work, transforming the wild property into beautifully landscaped gardens you find around the Inn today. Together with friends and family, aunt Patty and aunt Belinda constructed the Steller Inn in 2007. Patty and Belinda enjoyed meeting guests from around the world while hosting at the Inn each summer for 10 years, before re-locating to Washington state full-time in 2018. Maja joined the team in 2017 and has been Steller Inn’s full-time Manager and the welcoming smile at the Inn since 2019.

Patty’s nephew Andy had been visiting his aunts in Seward since he was a baby, before a summer road trip in 2006 turned into a permanent move to Alaska. Andy has lived in Seward ever since! Andy and his wife Callie purchased the Inn in early 2020; they feel blessed to have the opportunity to be the next generation of stewards of this beautiful property.

In memory of Aunt Belinda, Andy and Callie are honored to donate 1% of Steller Inn’s gross annual sales to support Huntington’s disease research. These funds support the Huntington Research Group, whose work Belinda participated in.

Steller Inn is proud to support Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as an annual Team Sponsor for the Lost Lake Run, a 15.6 mile trail run that takes place each August in Seward. Owner Callie and Manager Maja both run in this annual event.
